The Hoggard family has reached a final decision. Sadly, 2021 will be the last season for the Hoggard Christmas Wonderland of Lights.

A few weeks ago, Bertie News explained that the Hoggard family considered making this year their last. Now that the final word is a permanent closure of the display at the end of the holiday season get out and visit. Often, and as many times as you wish this season.

The Hoggards announced their final call in a Facebook post on November 26, 2021:

‼️‼️ The lights came on tonight to start our final year. Yes, the final decision has been made, this will be the 26th & last year. The decision did not come lightly or without much thought & consideration. We appreciate everyone who has shared their Christmas with us! ‼️‼️

It is sad to end this 26-year tradition, a vibrant display crafted each year to honor Carolyn Hoggard, a daughter they lost too young. But the Hoggards are ready to retire and hang up the Christmas lights, once and for all.

They explained that they must carefully tend to each display piece after the holidays, cleaning and painting and replacing light–a job that takes several months. In fact, by the time they finish giving each display some seasonal TLC, it’s time to start putting the collection back up for the festive Christmas season.
